Reno in 2011

It’s official: the 2011 World Science Fiction Convention will be held in Reno, Nevada. Renovation will run from August 17-21, 2011 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. Renovation guests of honor: Tim Powers, Ellen Asher, Boris Vallejo, and the late Charles N. Brown.

  1. I want to GO! Where do we sign up?

  2. Me too, I definitely plan to go and I’ll take as many friends and family as I can talk into it. Attending memberships are $140. There is no rush since prices don’t go up until the end of April 2010. I checked with the people running the convention and learned that room reservations at convention prices start sometime around January 2011.

The Atlantis hotel is the closest to the convention center and it’s the party hotel. You should check out the description at the Renovation web site. The hotel has nine restaurants, an air conditioned “sky bridge” to the convention center, and an indoor pool. Oh, and the spa and salon offers Peruvian chocolate massage and a papaya enzyme facial. That sounds like the set-up line for a joke.
